MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA–On Women’ s Day, March 8, Rachel Ferlazzo, a 22 year veteran of Warwick Fabrics Australia Pty. Ltd. was named CEO, a new position for the company.
She was previously General Manager for the past three years. This is the first time a non Warwick family member has been elevated to top management. Warwick has operations in India, New Zealand and is based in Melbourne with distribution partners throughout Asia.
Ferlazzo started in the warehouse cutting department at the age of 20 and worked her way up in all aspects of the business to her new role. Warwick is one of the largest upholstery and drapery fabric wholesalers in the world, certainly in the top 20 according to Fabrics & Furnishings International. “Over the years, Rachel’s impact has been wide-ranging, from product management to designing multiple Warwick websites; leading showroom refurbishments across Australia, to founding the Weave brand more than eight years ago,” Cameron says. “These milestones reflect not only longevity, but a deep understanding of the business from the ground up. Most recently Rachel spends her day empowering the teams around her, problem solving and working on future strategies,” he adds.
Warwick was started by Tom Warwick in 1966 and continues to develop under the vision of his sons Cameron and Leighton. “This appointment is one that Tom Warwick…would have been proud of. His vision was built on people, integrity and doing things the right way over the long term, values that continue to guide Warwick today and are reflected in this appointment,” Cameron says.
“The newly created CEO role reflects Warwick’s long-term strategy to further strengthen the company’s leadership and support continued growth across its global operations,” Ferlazzo says. “I will work closely alongside the Warwick family and senior leadership team to guide the business into its next phase while maintaining the values and relationships that have defined the company for six decades,” she adds.
“As the business continues to evolve, Warwick will focus on supporting its existing leadership team while building additional capability (around Ferlazzo) and creating further opportunities for internal growth and leadership development across the organisation,” she says.
