Roger Berkley Passes

WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ — Roger Berkley passed away November 27, 2025.

He is survived by his wife Elaine and two children, Sara and Dan.

He was at one time the CEO and owner of Weave Corp., a jacquard mill based in New Jersey which closed in 2011 but was in business from 1910 to 2009; first as an apparel fabrics manufacturer and then, under Roger, became an important upholstery manufacturer. Berkley was also one of the first to import silk fabrics from China into the USA.

In 2011, Berkley retired to Naples, Florida but remained self-employed as a textile consultant. He was previously the Chairman of the National Textile Association in the USA from March 1998 to March 2011.

He was a graduate of Columbia University in 1968.

Those who knew Roger Berkley say he was a powerful force in the fabrics industry and championed its cause with the U.S. government whenever possible, especially when it came to establishing domestic flammability standards.
