The hospitality industry has lost one of its most enduring and beloved figures. Deborah Herman, founder
of Fabric Innovations, who touched the lives of countless colleagues, friends, and industry partners
throughout her remarkable career.
Deborah’s path in the industry began with her roots. Armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from
Brigham Young University, she joined her father’s business, Bedspreads of California, serving as National
Sales Manager from 1982. Those early years immersed her in the world of hospitality textiles and ignited
a lifelong devotion to the craft.
In 1997, Deborah took that knowledge and her entrepreneurial spirit and founded Fabric Innovations,
building the company from the ground up into a respected name in the hospitality industry. Her instinct
for design, her understanding of her customers’ needs, and her ability to forge lasting relationships were
at the heart of everything the company became. In 2024, Fabric Innovations was acquired by Covington
Fabric & Design, a testament to the strong foundation Deborah had built. She remained actively
involved in the company as Founder.
What set Deborah apart was not only what she built, but how she showed up for people. She gave freely
of her time, her counsel, and her encouragement — always present for those in her circle, and never
one to forget a kindness or a friend.
To her family, she was a devoted aunt and a constant source of love and pride. To her colleagues and
friends, she was the kind of person who made every room warmer and every challenge feel more
manageable. The mark she left was not measured in business milestones alone, but in the depth of the
relationships she nurtured over a lifetime.
She leaves behind a loving family and a wide circle of dear friends and colleagues whose lives were
made richer for having known her.
In Loving Memory of Deborah Herman
