YORK, Pa. -- York Wallcoverings Inc., a leading global manufacturer of commercial and residential wallcoverings, has bought Hytex Industries.
York officials say the acquisition adds to York’s capabilities in the commercial sector since Hytex supplies innovative, acoustical wallcovering and decorative textiles.

“Our combined portfolio expands the range of products we can offer to our customers and provides the perfect blend of design and performance,” York CEO Brian Golden says in a statement.

Hytex Industries, established in 1959, has been recognized for its innovative and eco-friendly acoustical and woven textiles, along with industrial products in hospitality, corporate, retail, industrial and healthcare markets.

Hytex’s acoustical line of wallcoverings reuses recycled plastic bottles to create sound-absorbing substrates, which officials say, contribute to developing products that look good and do good.

Hytex Industries will continue to operate out of Randolph, Mass., while using York’s resources.

Alan Horowitz, former owner of Hytex, says, “The success and momentum of Hytex in the marketplace will only be strengthened by its alignment with York.”

York Wallcoverings is America’s oldest and largest wallcovering manufacturer. Its wallcoverings and wall décor continue to be designed, printed, and distributed from its headquarters founded in 1895 in York, Pennsylvania.
York creates residential and commercial wallcoverings along with peel-and-stick wall decor under several brands and major licenses available through retailers and interior design showrooms worldwide.
