Wurfel Named MD Bruder Baumann

GMUND, Austria - Walter Wurfel, previously from the consultancy agency of the same name, has been named sole managing director of Bruder Baumann GmbH, a 90-year-old family company.
Reporting to him from the different operational areas are: Maximilian Baumann, in charge of production, logistics, IT, quality management and sales, and Wolfgang List, responsible for marketing, design and distribution. This year, Baumann hopes to further expand its trend and design competence under the direction of Regina Siller and develop targeted, up-to-date contract and print collections. It is understood that Martin Baumann, previously a part of the family management, has left the company to pursue other interests.
At the same time, it was also announced that aviation fabrics is a new, very promising area of business for Baumann. The company has developed what it calls woven leather, a textile product that has been specified by members of the budget airlines industry according to List.
The company is known for its vertical ability to produce fabrics including weaving, printing, dyeing and finishing under its own roof. Customers are primarily hotels, retirement and continuing care homes, medical centers, operators of cruise ships and airlines, the furniture and caravan industry, and the wholesale trade.
The company said it has an annual production of approximately two million meters of upholstery and decorative fabrics offering various types of yarns and fibers including Trevira CS.
Bruder Baumann now employs 160 employees and distribution partners around the world. It has an export business which accounts for 80 percent of its production. Baumann Dekor said its fabrics are in compliance with the Oeko-Tex standard 100 (product class IV) and fulfill the requirements for the application in the marine industry, the company said.
