Vlot Retires From Dehnert & Jansen

January 8, 2000

Rotterdam — Frits Vlot has retired from Dehnert & Jansen after 32 years with the company in order to ''rest and enjoy life,'' a company official said. Prior to his departure, Vlot was executive vice president in charge of interior textiles, and was responsible for fabric purchasing at D&J. Earlier in the year, Vlot had also been named an advisor to D&J by the Board of Directors, but this arrangement ended at the time of his departure. Efforts by F&FI to reach Vlot for comment and to learn his future plans were unsuccessful. Vlot's purchasing duties have been assigned to Rob Van Peteren, a source close to the company said.

D&J Communications Manager Tim Vermeeren said that Vlot took early retirement with a pre-pension arrangement. Many of Vlot's friends were puzzled by the retirement, especially since Vlot was not yet 60. Vlot held a small retirement party for a few of his closest friends, family and associates in September.

D&J, makers of the Deja® fabric brand, is one of the top 50 fabric wholesalers worldwide with sales in excess of $100 million including carpet. Jan Edu Kelder is the President of the company. F&FI
