Tella Establishes Design Consulting Firm

December 12, 2000

Medfield, MA (USA) — Cynthia Valeri Tella has established Cynthia Tella Design Inc., a design consulting firm for the home furnishings industry.

Initially, Tella has four clients. She will be responsible for the Kravetcouture brand as an independent consultant, reporting to Scott Kravet, vice president.

In addition, she has made agreements with three weaving mills located in India, Italy and China.

"The future of my effort lies with distributors, designers and mills," Tella said. "I think my greatest strength lies in my ability as a merchandiser to bring out the best a designer has to offer the marketplace by working closely with designer/supplier team. The result will be more focused collections of fabrics which sell through the trade very efficiently. This will enable the supplier to increase sales."

Tella will target as future clients producers of furniture rugs and carpet.

Tella was previously vice president of design for Robert Allen Inc., Mansfield, MA, a major wholesaler of fabrics in the $150 million. She was with that company for 15 years. She created the Beacon Hill line of fabrics five years ago for Robert Allen. Beacon Hill reportedly generates $35 million in sales yearly.
