Savel's Hall Favors High End Market

January 29, 2010

MIAMI, Florida - Savel Inc., a jobber based in Miami and New York, is offering its third collection of fabrics produced by Jakob Schlaepfer, a 104-year-old medium-sized, boutique mill in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Schlaepfer began life as a producer of couture fabrics for high fashion houses but turned part of its energy to decorative fabrics for contract and residential use in 2008. The collection is available in 40-yard minimums on an exclusive basis through Savel in the USA and is priced in the $200 per meter range. The in-stock fabrics are available in one-yard minimums.

''This puts Schlaepfer at the top of the fabric food chain in style, creativity and color direction,'' said Hall, principal of Savel, a 22-year-old wholesaler. ''We are a small boutique firm that carries plains with a punch and is not mainstream. We service the top five percent of the market with exclusive designs. Savel is currently represented in 12 showrooms and expects to add other agents as it expands as well as road representatives,'' Hall said.
