Roger Gilmartin Retires from Covington

January 6, 2009

NEW YORK, New York – Having led and built the Covington brand for the past 13 years, 65-year-old Roger Gilmartin has announced his retirement from the company.

Gilmartin served as the president and CEO of Covington Fabric & Design, LLC since 2006 when he was promoted from his position as COO of Covington Industries, Inc. In March of last year, the Kahan family acquired the assets of Covington Holdings but Gilmartin remained as the president and CEO and is happy to assert that he will continue to consult the company in the coming years.

"The company and our industry have experienced unprecedented change in the last decade and I am proud that with the help of many talented associates, we transitioned through this very difficult time with a new business model that has and will continue to allow the company to prosper in the highly competitive business segment in which we operate," said Gilmartin. "I leave behind a great team, committed ownership, some wonderful customers and vendors and many very happy memories of this exciting period of my career. It's now time for a little less excitement."

Mark Kahan, previously the Chairman of the Board, will take over Gilmartin's post and his experience in the textile and other sectors – both public and private – has more than prepared him for the role. Kahan has been chairman since his family purchased Covington's assets in March, 2008.
