WELLINGTON, FL—Joe Rosenfeld, at one time a fixture in the decorative fabrics industry passed away September 23, 2024, at the age of 82.
He was born January 16, 1943, in Jerusalem, and moved to New York at the age of 13. Rosenfeld moved to San Diego, CA in 2002 and retired to Florida in 2004.
Rosenfeld, a textile industry executive for over 35 years, formed Claridge Textiles International with Shannon Lee in late 2002. Once Rosenfeld decided to retire, Lee ultimately bought out his 50% ownership position and she continues the firm until this day.
Both had previously been affiliated with American Decorative Fabrics (ADF), with Rosenfeld as President until October 2002 and Lee as design director. That firm is owned by David Li, Shannon’s brother. “Sorry to hear that Joe has passed away. He was my mentor and a great gentleman,” David Li remembers.
Earlier in his career, Rosenfeld was with Lanscot-Arlen, a major converter of decorative fabrics no longer in business. Prior to that Rosenfeld was President of the Ametex division of The Robert Allen Group which also closed its doors. Rosenfeld left that post in February 1996. Before joining Ametex, Rosenfeld was the furniture buyer for Macy’s New York.
Rosenfeld is survived by Kendra, his wife of 42 years. They had no children.
