Fabric Owner Gets Extreme Honor

March 14, 2007

Deborah Herman Romano, owner of Fabric Innovations, has been honored as one of the national business persons of the year by the National Business Advisory Council.

The celebration to present those receiving the honor with their awards will take place from March 14 – 15 in Washington D.C. Romano will be formally presented with her award on Thursday afternoon at a luncheon that will be part of the two-day event. At Thursday evening's dinner, sponsored by the National Republican Congressional Committee, President George W. Bush will be a special guest with whom Romano will have photo opportunities and a chance to meet.

Romano and the other honorees will meet with congressmen and women during breakout sessions in town hall format to discuss issues affecting her particular field. The sessions will focus on health care, tax reform, tort reform and energy.

"I'd like to be more involved in flame resistance laws," said Romano. "There are a lot of laws out there that aren't moving forward. I also think we could really affect sustainability. If hotels took two to three rinse cycles out of their commercial laundering, they could save the country of India with that water."

Both Marriott and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. have put together packages for Romano to present to committees during these sessions.

"I've always been involved in things that would help our sales and growth," said Romano. "I'm fairly well versed on issues that effect small businesses…I don't know how they selected us, but I know there are 300 recipients."
