Duquesne Adds Export, Design Staff

September 6, 2000

Greensboro, N.C. (USA) — Burlington House Export, under Stephan Duquesne, vice president of international sales is making several staff changes in order to improve Burlington's position in the world market.

Frederick Rodgers has been hired to cover the Middle East, South Africa and Eastern Europe. He replaces Dale Lindblom who has resigned to pursue other interests in the non-wovens industry, Duquesne confirmed.

Rodgers was previously with Concord Fabrics in New York. Rodgers will work out of Burlington's offices in New York.

Robert Alvarez, who was previously with Cone Jacquards, has been retained to cover South America and the Caribbean. Rodgers and Alvarez report to Duquesne who joined Burlington less than a year ago to revitalize the export division.

Tayo Onadein, a native Nigerian has also joined Burlington as senior designer and design director. He reports to Mike Durham, executive vice president of upholstery. Onadein fills a post that has been vacant for at least two years, Duquesne said. "He knows the textile business and has traveled the world," said Duquesne. "This will give our export department a real boost. We see an increase in 2001 in our ticking, bedding, contract and upholstery lines."

Duquesne is excited about Burlington's new lines of rayon chenilles in the $8 range, "a real value for the international markets," he added. "The competition is selling acrylic chenille for the same price. Our product is very bright and soft. It is preferred by the export customer over acrylic varieties."
