Briggs Takes Over Swaffer

September 30, 2005

PETERBOROUGH CAMBS, UK — Lawrie Briggs has acquired the majority of the equity in Anne & Robert Swaffer Ltd., a design driven print and woven fabric converter owned and operated by the Swaffer family since 1973.

According to Briggs, Anne and Robert Swaffer retired on July 1, 2005. Robert remains on call on a consultancy basis.

The deal with Briggs and the Swaffers closed in July 2005. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Briggs was previously the managing director of Sixten & Cassey. Briggs will take over as managing director, while Janet Beaney-Smith -- with Swaffer for 10 years -- will be design and marketing director.

Martin Fear returned on Sept. 1 as sales director.

"The company excels at creating exclusive traditional prints but also markets more contemporary fabrics. This successful mix will continue to be expanded and is aimed at the middle to upper market," Briggs said.

A new website is being developed to launch before next year.
