Angiuoni Names Picard as New U.S. Sales Manager

November 2, 2004

MILAN, Italy — Kelly Picard has been named U.S. sales manager, a new fulltime position for Enzo Degli Angiuoni Spa.

Picard returns to the upholstery industry after seven years in his own importing business. Prior to this, he was export sales manager for P. Kaufmann Inc., the converter where he worked for seven years.

Picard will work out of his home in New Jersey but should be a regular fixture at the D&D Building in New York City as he makes his rounds.

His new position was acquired at Decosit with Roberto Angiuoni, second generation principal of the firm with his father and mill founder Enzo.

Picard will follow in the path of Philippe Coupe, export manager of Angiuoni who covered the U.S. territory for the last four years from his native Paris base. Coupe and Roberto Angiuoni made several trips a year to the States. Coupe will now focus on his native France, working out of the company's Paris-based showroom.

In the last four years, Enzo degli Angiuoni Spa says it has invested €18 million renewing completely its weaving mill both from an architectural and productive point of view. "In fact all the looms were changed and substituted with brand new Dornier looms both for jacquard and dobby fabrics," Enzo states.

He also adds that Enzo degli Angiuoni Spa "is the first weaving mill in the world able to produce plissè jacquard fabrics." Enzo's says that his role is to be "a personal tailor for all my customers." In fact 60% of the worldwide production of the company is composed of exclusive patterns, structures and colors for its customers, he says.

As part of its selling strategy, Enzo degli Angiuoni Spa continues to focus on a reduced list of customers. For example, in the local Italian market, customers were reduced from 300 to only 30/40 with a 2004 turnover that increased 15 percent. This continues to be Enzo degli Angiuoni Spa's strategy, he said.

Picard's appointment is a big move for this mill. Few if any Italian mills are hiring fulltime sales managers in the U.S., preferring to rely on independent sales agents to market their lines on a commission basis. This represents a major commitment to the American market by Angiuoni. This appointment follows a series of moves designed to make Angiuoni a more important export for all its customers.

Enzo degli Angiuoni Spa now has two showrooms, in London and in Paris. Angiuoni is an important supplier to high-end decorative jobbers throughout the world.

The Company's main offices and factory is based in Birago di Lentate sul Seveso, Milan. In spring 2003 the new Weaving Mill was inaugurated in Garbagnate Monastero, Lecco.
