American Century Home Adds New Hires, Plans for a Move

December 16, 2005

SALISBURY, North Carolina – American Century Home welcomed Marion Murray as vice president, design and merchandizing and Jeff Ganz as vice president, key accounts on Dec. 5.

Murray will be overseeing all design in the U.S. and China for piece goods, cut order and bedding. She said she came to the company because she saw it as an "opportunity of a lifetime," and feels it's "the business model of the future," having Americans based in the U.S. and the manufacturing done in China.

"The U.S. will always drive design," she said. But it's no longer the place for manufacturing. The company is also becoming their own jobber by putting out books, offering their own product as cut order. Murray said it's another avenue of distribution for their product and sees it as "a lucrative business."

Murray said the company is also looking to become much more decorative, adding prints hopefully by June. Look for a new ACH showroom opening in New York soon.

The company is also looking to get into the contract business.
