January 13, 2026

Reykjavik, Iceland– Nortdahl and Ásgeir Frey Ásgeirsson, father and son, have built ‘Zenus’ into a significant fabric wholesaler here after 25 years.
The sole showroom and workroom is double height with mostly plains in unicolor drapery on display in white and ecru.
Asgeir handles logistics and business administration.
The team is complete with designer Adalheidur, Asgeir’s charming wife plus 12 employees.
Iceland has a population of 380,000 people with most living in the Reykjavik and surrounding areas. Tourism swells the population especially in the summer months. There are many hotels serving the tourists.
“Zenus does 60 percent of its business in the contract sector,” Asgeir explains. “We get a good share of that business.”
Asgeir’s dad is still doing reupholstery but the firm has branched out to be the exclusive Luxaflex licensee with a growing blinds, shades and hardware business. Sheers, readymades and made to measure drapery compliment the Luxaflex business.
Zenus is supplied by Lauritson sheers with synthetic and linen ranges from Finland; Astrid from Sweden also sheers and linen and FR from Ludvig Svensson, Sweden. Other suppliers are: Deploeg (Holland) for readymade curtains and technical drapes made with aluminum fiber to block out the sun from Switzerland based Creation Bauman.
The fabric has a selling price from $100-$400 to the architect and interior designer,” Asgeir says. “We buy nothing from China and pay no tariffs with imports from the EU.”
