Thibaut Buys Coraggio

MINNEAPOLIS. MN – New Jersey–based fabric, wallcoverings and furniture brand Thibaut purchased Bellevue, Washington based wholesaler Coraggio on July 13.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed but the two brands began talks late last year. Thibaut itself was also purchased by private equity group Norwest Equity Partners in 2021.
Thibaut CEO Rick Kilmer says the two companies will operate largely independently. Any necessary changes will be discussed at Thibaut’s strategic planning meetings later in the year, he says.
Kilmer plans to move the Coraggio inventory to Thibaut’s new facility in Charlotte, where the New Jersey–based company recently transferred all its own inventory.
Coraggio founder and CEO Robert Albert will stay on to consult during the transition period. He established the Coraggio brand in 1979. Corragio offers textiles, furniture, lighting, rugs, art, and accessories in eleven different showrooms.
Established in 1886, Thibaut considers itself the oldest operating wallpaper company in the U.S. Thibaut reestablished a showroom network after Robert Allen Duralee went bankrupt in 2019.
