Persan Adds Outlets

September 11, 2000

Istanbul — Persan, a major Turkish home fabrics distributor expects to have 20 shops by 2002, according to Mahmut Kis, principal.

In an interview with Sipco.net during Decosit, Kis said he sees an up-tick in business since the Turkish earthquakes one year ago. "The economy is improving. Colors are swinging over to brown and beige instead of minimalism."

Currently, Persan has 11 shops and five years ago, it had only three shops. "These shops are in major Turkish cities like Bursa, Izmir, Ankara. They are decoration and catalog outlets, which are serviced by our main warehouse in Istanbul.''

Persan is represented by 25 distributors in Turkey. It is also the JAB distributor in Turkey. Persan does 70 percent of its turnover with three Turkish suppliers, namely the Turkun Group. Outside of Turkey, Persan does business with Tessiride, an Italian printer, and Anne & Robert Swaffer, the U.K. converter.
