Perennials Owners Hire First Outside CEO

DALLAS, TX—Christian Leard joined Perennials and Sutherland LLC as CEO in February 2023.
He is the first CEO to be hired from outside of the Perennials family management which was founded by Ann Sutherland, Chief Creative Director, and her husband David Sutherland. Leard replaces Ann Sutherland in the CEO post which she held from 2018-2023. Her husband was CEO prior to 2018.
Leard previously was President of the Levolor division of Hunter Douglas in Pearl River, New York. Hunter Douglas has reorganized its structure under new ownership.
Prior to his Hunter Douglas post, Leard had extensive experience in SE Asia sourcing and manufacturing with consumer brands like Char-Broil, Newell, and Stanley Black & Decker.
Sutherland Furniture was founded in 1994 followed by Perennials, the outdoor fabrics business founded in 1997. Today, it is an outdoor fabrics/rug manufacturer with production in San Luis, Mexico, and India. It markets furniture and accessories made by collaborating manufacturers through David Sutherland showrooms.
