DesignTex Promotes Susan Lyons as Company Restructures

November 28, 2000

New York - Susan Lyons has been promoted to executive vice president, creative director for DesignTex, according to DesignTex president Tom Hamilton. Lyons was formerly executive vice president of design. In the new position, Lyons will be responsible for the image and visibility of the company and its brands: DesignTex, DesignTex Hospitality and 1+1.

"Susan's new team will own the look, feel and touch of how we present DesignTex, Inc. to customers and to ourselves. In addition to strategic product direction, this includes all internal and external communications — from advertising and public relations to showrooms and presentations."

Lyons' promotion comes as the company is restructuring. "We have evaluated our current market position and looked at where we need enhanced market business generation focus and support," said Hamilton. "We have also evaluated where significant business growth potential lies. It became clear that a slight reorganization of our business was necessary. This reorganization has generated four new positions within the company."

One of those is vice president, A&D marketing. Hamilton said DesignTex will will the position by promoting Kathryn Gabriel, who is currently vice president, marketing. "In this newly created position, Kathryn will work with the Architect and Designer (A&D) customer to support projects, to manage our new Customer Proposal Program and to develop needed sales tools," Hamilton said. "She will also provide market research on new product needs and desires."

Working for Gabriel in another newly created position as coordinator, business tools generation is Hope Ginsburg. Formerly in the DesignTex design department researching technical issues, Ginsburg will work directly with the sales team supporting their sales tools needs and customer proposals, according to a company press release.

A fourth new position, major projects coordinator, is unfilled at the moment. The position is responsible for sales, order fulfillment and customer satisfaction for selected major projects and accounts.
