Deco Contract Courts European Specifier

February 9, 2001

Frankfurt, Germany – Textirama director Patrick Geysels wants a piece of the hospitality pie.

As a result, the Ghent, Belgium-based trade fair organizer is launching a new fair called Deco Contract, billed as "a worldwide view on contract interiors."

"Deco Contract will be geared to the total interior furnishings of the hospitality project including windows, floors, walls and upholstery," Geysels said.

Textirama is also the organizer of Decosit, the exhibition which showcases decorative upholstery fabrics, and several other fairs at the Heysel Fairgrounds in Brussels.

"Until this moment, a fair like NeoCon in Chicago or Hospitality Design in Las Vegas did not exist in Europe. That's the goal of Deco Contract in Brussels," Geysels said.

"There are smaller groups of hotels in Europe. These are usually family run. These groups need information about interior furnishings.

They want a European exhibition with a good offering so they can make purchasing decisions about furnishings and we expect to give it to them at Deco Contract this year."

Geysels will also offer a program focused on the technical side of the business as well as a review of pending legislation affecting the hotel industry in Europe. The Contract Awards given to the best hospitality fabrics will also be part of the plan.

Deco Contract will be held during Decosit 2001 on 9-12 September in Hall 12 and will be separated from the Decosit Exhibition in Halls 6, 7, 9 and 11.

Geysels expects to have 50-60 exhibitors in Deco Contract in 2001 and 100-120 participants in 2002.

"While there will be European exhibitors at Deco Contract, American suppliers pursuing the hotel project industry in Europe will also join Deco Contract as well. We expect to attract contract interior specifiers from all over Europe to attend Deco Contract, he said.

"The existing hospitality fairs in Europe are geared mainly to the kitchen business," Geysels added.
