Messe & TPSA Remove Alleged Ningbo Copies
Heimtextil Frankfurt – During Heimtextil Frankfurt, Culp Rossville division (USA) allegedly found copies of its designs at Ningbo Sunshine of China. Culp, a member of the Textile Producer and Supplier Association (TPSA), immediately reported the suspected infringement, and Messe Frankfurt officials quickly removed from Ningbo's stand the questionable designs.
"The immediate action that Culp took made it possible for the infringing designs to be removed quickly," said TPSA legal counsel Richard Taffet. "A German lawyer will prepare an undertaking to be signed by Ningbo Sunshine. This undertaking will have the same force as a judgement from a court of law and will allow Messe Frankfurt to take appropriate steps regarding the accused infringer," he said.
Dan Jacobs, Culp's senior vice pPresident and president of the company's Decorative Fabrics, said that Culp is considering further action through a German lawyer.
