Broomhill Gains License For Cosmopolitan Brand

September 20, 2000

Magheralin, Northern Ireland (UK) - Broomhill Home Furnishings has secured the U.K. license for supplying bedlinen under the brand ''Cosmopolitan,'' the international women's lifestyle magazine.

Broomhill is now one of eight U.K. Cosmopolitan licensees in fashion and home accessories. The company hopes to build on the success of the brand, which is aimed at ''confident, self-aware and independent women with a passion for life.'' New additions to the bedlinen range are planned for spring/summer 2001. Broomhill has also taken on a new designer, Claire Slaven, who will focus on the Cosmopolitan collection. Slaven has several years' design experience in the U.K. textile industry, having previously worked for Cramlington Textiles.

Broomhill sales director Paul Donegan commented: ''There is clearly a market for bedlinen that is both fashionable and feminine. We will continue to invest in targeting the right Cosmopolitan consumers with the right designs.''

He added that a key strategy is to expand the distribution of the brand to ensure maximum market coverage.

This autumn, Broomhill is also offering the first Benetton-branded bedlinen collection in the U.K., featuring geometric prints and weaves in both vivid bright tones and sophisticated mid-tones.

The company's Bedeck collection has also been extended with two 100 percent cotton weaves, a feminine, floral printed design in soft washed colors, an elegant, country floral and a new plain-dyed range. F&FI
