Blumenthal Adds Product Lines, Export Personnel

New Orleans, La., (USA) — Blumenthal has added several product lines, including wide-width fabrics, and it has made additions to its international staff.

At Heimtextil, Blumenthal will introduce cotton-rich chenille jacquards and transfer printed jacquard damask in coordinate groupings in body cloths and assorted designs. All of these introductions feature Blumenthal's "NewSoft" finish. The transfer prints feature Solutia Wear-Dated® acrylic yarns

Blumenthal's custom products division, features jacquard fabrics in widths up to 275 centimeters for converters and manufacturers of readymade curtains, top-of-the-bed products, table linens and wall coverings, according to Loel Hofmann, vice president, international marketing.

Blumenthal's ticking division will also present its expanded line of mattress ticking in new constructions. These include 'Nuance' with a viscose warp, and 'Rapture,' a 100-percent 'Ultra-Silk' polypropylene yarn that offers a silky hand with resistance to pilling and moisture wicking properties, Hofmann said.

"Our product development in ticking has been focused on the feel of our products," he added.

Two staff members have joined the Blumenthal international group: Scott Furash, vice-president International and Martha Fulton, director of international design.

Furash has 15 years of international business development experience and is focusing on Blumenthal's global strategic development and revenue generation for the international group.

Fulton has 30 years experience in the textile industry and has developed and designed products for nearly every global market, Hofmann said. Fulton is focused on product development, specifically designed and styled to meet the unique requirements of the international marketplace.

Other export personnel include Jennifer Humphrey for Pacific Rim markets and Jamil Urroz in Latin America and Middle East markets. Hofmann covers Europe. F&FI
