BITA Supports ShowRoom

September 24, 2001

Manchester (UK) — ShowRoom 2002, the new home interiors exhibition taking place from 28-30 April at the G-Mex Centre in Manchester, has received funding from the British Interior Textiles Association.

Sources at Exposure, the exhibition organizer, said that more than 80 companies have booked stands. Among them are prominent names in the international textile industry, including: Ashley Wilde, Curtina, Prestigious, Rectella, Fryetts, Gordon John Textiles, Kipfold, Leemark Elenca, Tyrone Textiles, Sleepdown, Bedmaker, Speedy Products, Coelima, Evans Lichfield, Thomas Frederick and Turner Bianca.

BITA's decision to sponsor show comes after a majority of its members asked for support in participating at an exhibition in Manchester. Previously, BITA had sponsored Intohome, a Birmingham-based exhibition.

Commenting on the decision Diane Harding, vice chairman of BITA, said: "Our members have given us a clear mandate to switch our support to ShowRoom 2002. The majority voted for a Manchester event and we are looking forward to working with the organizers to ensure the exhibition responds to the long-term needs of our industry."

Ashley Brodin of Ashley Wilde Group said: "I am delighted to see the support for ShowRoom 2002 in Manchester. The time is right for our industry to unite behind an event run for the trade, both buyer and seller. I am sure we can look forward to long-term success in Manchester."

According to an Exposure official, event has two themed areas to facilitate the relationship between buyer and seller, and reflect trends in the retail sector: 'The Homelife Showroom' and 'The Body and Soul Showroom' as well as a Designer Forum and Trend Area.

ShowRoom 2002 was launched by Simon Boyd, who in 1992 successfully resurrected the ailing Home Interiors Exhibition. More recently he set up his own exhibition organizing company and now is responsible for a number of successful trade events in a range of industries.

"The launch of ShowRoom has really caught the imagination of the home interiors industry," said Boyd. "The return to Manchester with its vibrant social infrastructure and superb location has been very popular, as are the initiatives we have taken with stand sizes and the profile of the show. Within just a week of the launch over three-quarters of the space had been reserved and, as a result, we added a further area."
