Adriaans Sells Art

December 12, 2000

Vieuxville, Belgium — Just after Decosit in October, approximately 90 people attended the second in-home art exhibition of the Dutch painter and textile designer Harry Adriaans in the Erdennen area of Belgium on the Rue du Soleil (route of the sun).

The exhibit featured 27 of Adriaans' paintings, including work in oil, water color and acrylic. In one hour, 18 pieces were sold. Watercolors sold for between $1,000 and $3,000 and a few oils sold for over $4,000. Buyers included members of the textiles industry and Adriaans' personal friends.

Among those who turned out for the exhibition were active and retired executives from Dutch fabric printers and suppliers Swinkels, Hatefa, Lakatex and Dehnert & Jansen and Kobe.

Adriaans is a longtime designer for the fabrics industry — almost 35 years as a freelance textile designer. He is working for many clients worldwide in prints and woven fabrics. He said that his Dutch clients are very enthusiastic about floral prints at the moment, which are selling well worldwide.

"Versace is selling flowers very well in the fashion business. This is an example of the trend," said Adriaans.F&FI
