Valdese Launches New Brand

January 20, 2006

VALDESE, North Carolina – Joel R. Crisp, director of global operations for Valdese, will head up a new brand, Valdese International Products (VIP), launched just last week to further business in the residential and contract markets.

Initial products will come in two styles. Charmeuse will be offered in 36 color ways and be priced by the piece at $8.95 per yard. Copland will be offered in six color ways and priced by the piece at $16.95 per yard.

Design and development will be done in the North Carolina facilities. The line will be sourced offshore with manufacturing partners in other countries.

"Valdese, for a number of years, has recognized that there has been a transition of business moving off shore," Crisp said. The company saw a need to develop a service-oriented business to help capture that, he said.

"We recognized the need and saw our ability to fulfill that need," he said.

Crisp, Mark Moss, international production manager, and the brand team will work to ensure a high level of quality and design fabrication.

VIP's logistics and quality team will monitor the progress of each order, ensuring on time delivery, and perform a 100 percent quality inspection before shipping.

"Our focus is not just to be a price leader," Crisp said. "But to be innovative and complement what we do in our domestic factory."
