Trevira's Girrbach Discusses Trevira FR

February 3, 2006

FRANKFURT, Germany -- Dr. Ulrich Girrbach, head of marketing and sales/hometextiles and technical at Trevira says Trevira FR will be tailor made for the US market.

''With Trevira FR we complement our product offering of flame resistant yarns in the USA,'' he said. ''The difference between Trevira CS and Trevira FR is a lower modification of the flame resistant component in the fibre molecule so it can be offered at a more competitive price.''

Trevira FR will meet the US NFPA 701 fire standard among the country's other textile fire standards for hometextiles.

''Trevira FR products close the gap in our product portfolio and are aimed at end uses for furnishing fabrics in the USA which do not have to fulfill the demands of Trevira CS.''

He was careful to mention that Trevira CS will continue to be the company's premium product that meets international fire safety standards.

The combined product range of CS and FR will allow for a wider variety of design possibilities. Girrbach said the product was created in order for Trevira to add to their range of tailor made products for individual regions. He said there are not as many different fire standards in the US as there are in Europe, and Trevira FR can cater to that.

''With Trevira CS, we offer a differentiated product when requirements are higher -- such as for example in the transport sector or for theatre curtains. But one important remark I want to stress: both products are safe.''

Trevira FR will be offered in staple and filament and will be manufactured and marketed by Trevira's US partners, for the US market only. ''Pharr will offer the spun yarn and Dillon will manufacture the false twist texturized yarns. Luftex will make air textured yarns.''

Main market competitors include Avora FR.
