Trevira Group Rescued from Insolvency by New Owners

September 10, 2009

Entrepreneurs Stefan Messer and Karl-Gerhard Seifert from Frankfurt have given high-tech polyester fibre producer Trevira a newfound future, saving more than 1,450 jobs with their acquisition of the company.

Werner Schneider, certified auditor and insolvency administrator for the Trevira Group officially notarized the contract of sale yesterday afternoon. "From the outset, I sensed a strong managerial desire on the part of Stefan Messer and Karl-Gerhard Seifert to guide this traditional company out of their crisis," said Schneider.

The employees of Trevira are now breathing much more easily as the new ownership ensures that just approximately three quarters of the 1,800 jobs at the German and Polish locations will be saved, while the sales and marketing will continue to be handled from Frankfurt.

Every year Trevira is responsible for manufacturing 120,000 tons of staple fibres and filament yarns from polyester raw materials which it produces itself.

"On the basis of our entrepreneurial experience we will make the traditional brand Trevira successful again in the clothing, home textiles and automotive industries and in the hygiene sector, and we will also safeguard the jobs in the long term," insisted Messer and Seifert. "We are convinced that, following several changes of proprietor in the last ten years, the restructured Trevira now once again has what it takes to become a stable and sustainable company."
