Milliken Moves 180 Degrees From the Ordinary

August 19, 2005

NORWOOD, Massachusetts -- The creative minds of Milliken & Company have been able to join performance solutions and aesthetics to create 180 Walls, an extremely efficient dry-adhesive, 100 percent polyester wallcovering.

''Sound is the big one here,'' said Kevin Casey, hotel manager of the Four Points Norwood Hotel and Conference Center where 180 Walls is being installed.

The wallcoverings were a huge benefit to the hotel that is undergoing a two and a half year renovation project. Casey said the look of the product and ease at which it could be installed was a big draw.

It helped to reduce any noise and further disturbance of their guests due to the reconstruction.

''And shortening the time of this particular installation helps,'' he said.

Eric Blum, market analyst and planner for Milliken, said the hospitality market can count on a number of benefits from the product.

''There's no odor from glue,'' he said of the dry adhesive formula.

''This stuff goes up like a charm,'' said installer Gary Vallerand of Vallerand & Sons out of Waltham, MA. Vallerand said he was amazed by the ease at which the wallcovering could be installed.

The product will adhere for seven years and beyond. Additionally, the product incorporates StainSmart technology to repel and release any stain. It is also ''antimicrobial,'' or ''mold-inhibiting.''

''Anything we can do to stay out of that problem is welcome. We've never had an issue but I certainly don't want one,'' Casey said.

''We're thrilled to have a Milliken product on the wall. We use their carpets and we're hoping we'll have the same luck with the wallcovering. It has a great look to it,'' Casey said.

Prices for 180 Walls depends on volume and selected style.
