KravetWindow Offers First Massive Collection

August 3, 2005

NEW YORK, New York — Kravet Fabrics has introduced KravetWindow, its first major line of drapery fabrics in its history as a wholesaler.

Kravet has traditionally introduced collections of upholstery and multipurpose fabrics but this new collection is specifically geared to drapery only. The KravetWindow line consists of thousands of SKUs with 20 books dedicated to the window category.

One item, called 'berries' was a best selling upholstery print and also done as woven upholstery for Kravet. It has been reintroduced now as a drapery fabric. Other numbers in the massive window collection include large scale stripes, paisley printed and stamped plains and embroidered casements with avant garde styling. Seven color palettes were used for this largely high-end couture collection including the colors of green tea, henna, Bordeaux, truffle and stone.

Scott Kravet supervised the purchasing of the fabrics in the collection but all of the Kravet design team participated in its creation, a spokesman said.

In other areas, Kravet has added a line of upholstery styled by Michael Weiss in a two book collection including a book in white, black red and gray. In addition, more fabrics in the Barbara Barry Collection have been added as well as collections by Pierre Deux, Joseph Aboud and Alexa Hampton. Larry Laslo, another designer in the Kravet fabric line-up is also adding some new product.

Kravet will also completely renovate its 11,000 square foot flagship showroom in the D&D Building at 979 Third Avenue in New York at year end, complete with a café. Kravet feels this showroom is expected to raise the standards for the industry worldwide and serve as the new model for what designers want in a state of the art showroom.
