Giber Restructures

September 8, 2009

COMO, Italy - Giber, the privately held, family-run Italian weaver of sheer drapery fabrics, was restructured during the first quarter of 2009, according to a company spokesman.

Giber srl, the new company, said it is now "in condition to continue its activities. The new production is located three miles from the original facilities," the spokesman said. "The crisis originated mainly from the combination of credits unpaid; the reduction in demand worldwide and the lack of credit from the banks. Now the company is working for the future."

Although Giber did not participate in MoOD in Brussels this week, it expects to be a part of Heimtextil in January, 2010. "The decision not to participate in MoOD originated months ago when our future was not yet secured," the spokesman continued. "We hope that Heimtextil will coincide with some positive reaction from the markets as we are still waiting for a more positive economy."
