Edelman Brings Luxurious Upholstery Leather to Herman Miller's Modern Classics

August 31, 2005

NEW MILFORD, Connecticut – Through a chance meeting at NeoCon®, Edelman Leather has aligned with Herman Miller to bring their upholstery leather to Herman Miller's Modern Classics furniture line.

"We had been looking for a good quality leather in many colors," said Barbara Tasker, senior product manager at Herman Miller.

"The quality of Edelman Leather was something that really appealed to Herman Miller," she said. "It's been a very thorough process in making sure we put the right leather on our products."

"It's a good match. It's a good marriage between the two companies in making a beautiful product. It will be on our modern classics furniture offering. It's intended for those people that value good design and the quality that goes into that good design," Tasker said.

All Grain and Dream Cow Leathers by Edelman will be a standard on these Herman Miller's Modern Classics as of September 2005: Eames Sofa, Eames Softpad and Aluminum Groups, Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, Eames True Life, Eames Chaise, Goetz Sofa and Nelson Marshmallow Sofa.

According to Tasker, the upholstery is available in over 50 colors.

John Edelman said they are assisting Herman Miller in marketing the furniture to the hospitality industry.

In 1950, John's parents, Arthur and Teddy Edelman became the major supplier of leather to the fashion industry. Today, the company provides quality leather for architects and interior designers.

Herman Miller Modern Classics can be seen in the Herman Miller National Design Center at the Merchandise Mart, suite 321, Chicago, Illinois and in Edelman Leather showrooms.
