January 8, 2010

LONG ISLAND CITY, New York - The stockholders of Brunschwig & Fils have acquired Hinson & Company, the renowned lighting company, and will show the entire Hinson lighting collection in the Brunschwig showroom of the D+D Building in NYC, according to a source at Brunschwig & Fils.

According to an alternative industry source, Hinson's showroom will be closing shortly. The source at Brunschwig confirmed that the Hinson staff, however, will remain intact.

Hinson Lighting is a division of Hinson & Company, founded by Harry Hinson in 1972 which provides an array of ceiling, table, and wall lamps as well as a large collection of indoor/outdoor lighting. Many of the lighting products in Hinson's collection are crafted in Metalab, the company's design laboratory which seeks out and commissions impressive new architects and designers to create future products.

Brunschwig & Fils was established in Aubusson and Bohain in France by Achille Brunschwig in 1900 as a tapestry-weaving mill. Brunschwig & Fils expanded its collection in the early twentieth century to include printed and woven silks and cottons from the fine European mills. In addition to fabric, the company now offers upholstery, wallcoverings, trimmings and accent pieces like coffee tables and lamps.
