Valdese Appoints Parrish to International Sales and Marketing Director, Expands in Technology and Design

VALDESE, North Carolina -- Michael Shelton, president and CEO of Valdese Weavers has announced that Cynthia Parrish has been named International Sales and Marketing Director, affective Dec. 1.
According to Shelton, Parrish will be responsible for the development of marketing programs for Valdese's international customer base, as well as for managing agents around the world. She'll also be managing the company's show participation.
''We're taking a different approach to international sales, taking someone who knows our capabilities intimately and projecting them to the world market,'' he said.
He said Parrish has the skill set to attend to their markets around the globe.
She has been with Valdese for nine years, and has held various positions in design and marketing. Most recently she was their product development manager and liason to their international agents from a product standpoint.
In other news, the company has also announced a multi-million dollar expansion of its manufacturing information technology and design capabilities at the company's two facilities in Valdese.
The expansion of manufacturing capabilities will include expenditures for weaving, yarn dyeing and fabric finishing. New jacquard weaving machines will add approximately 15 to 20 percent to the company's total capacity.
''We are very fortunate to have experienced growth in each of the markets we served during 2005,'' Shelton said.
