Satin Textiles, Microcare Win Contract Awards

December 18, 2001

Brussels - An international jury sorted through 160 contract entries, before choosing three winners. The judges considered a wide range of interior contract products including floorcoverings, wall coverings, window coverings and bedspreads, that were the domain of the DecoContract entrants.

In the contract field, awards were given in two categories: design and product development. The contract fabric design award went to Satin Textiles of Bangkok. Satin's winning entry was a trendy green fabric whose inspiration was nature. The fabric was constructed of several different novelty yarns, which provide it with a pattern and a three-dimensional aspect.

The contract fabric product development award went to Microcare of The Netherlands. Microcare's winning entry was an iridescent fabric. It was a three-layer material with a knitted and coated layer. The product is suitable for heavy duty and high performance applications.

Meanwhile, Satin also won the trend prize, beating out 200 entrants. The winning entry was an upholstery fabric with a transparent layer.

Also at the awards ceremony, the German company, Müller Zell was awarded the Trevira award. F&FI
