Rocky Mountain Hardware Launches a New Line of Bronze Architectural Tiles

August 29, 2005

NEW YORK, New York — Rocky Mountain Hardware, headquartered in Idaho's Wood River Valley, has introduced a line of cast bronze tiles to their established range of handcrafted and customized bronze architectural hardware and accessories. The May 3 launch took place at this year's Coverings Show in Orlando, Florida.

The new line of tiles, cast in solid art grade bronze, features several different families, such as nature, geometric, and framed. Each family comes in a variety of sizes with applications taking the form of accents for floors, counter tops, and shower walls or of a grouped outlay to cover an entire surface, such as a backsplash. The handcrafted tiles are available in two different bronzes, seven patinas, and seventy-plus tile styles.

Said Rocky Mountain Hardware owner Patsy Nickum: ''the design community is really excited about our tiles. Until now, options were limited when it came to carrying out their visions into reality, to make it really happen. But with these tiles, many more possibilities have opened up. You can do more with binding. Hospitality is now all about signature and customization, and, with our processes, it's easy to incorporate a hotel's logo or capture the right accent on your reception desk, in the restrooms, or in the restaurant.''

Manufacturing of the tiles is being done locally and under full ownership of the company as with all other Rocky Mountain Hardware products. Nickum claims that she has the best engineering and design team in the nation, if not in the world. "They are absolutely top-notch," she said. Everything is precision-engineered by combining time-honored casting methods with state-of-the-art technology.

Nickum is very confident about this line in business terms. "The reception has been great and I have high hopes for these tiles. As it happens, our hardware sales are the best they have ever been. The tiles work as a natural extension of the line. And with the continuity of bronze, you don't have to worry about finding a complementary material as you move from doorware and accessories to the floors. It is not just a functional issue. It is also very much about concept and design and carrying through (the accord) all the way.''

Notably, the line includes a 'grout-through tile,' a proprietary style that is new to the industry. It is meant to reshape the parameters of the metal tile. Preset channels guide the grout lines through the tile to unfold shapes and designs that create an illusion of several pieces of bronze being set together to achieve the effect.

Since the late 1980s, Rocky Mountain Hardware has been manufacturing cast bronze hardware, accessories, and one-of-a-kind custom bronze work for the residential and hospitality markets.

Rocky Mountain Hardware can be found in high-end showrooms throughout the U.S., as well as in Latin America, Canada, and Europe. The company also maintains a presence at trade shows such as the Coverings, the Hospitality Design Show, the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, and the Pacific Coast Builders' Conference.
