Rockland Presents All-in-one Velvet

January 13, 2003

Baltimore, Md. (USA) -Rockland Industries Inc. has introduced a new collection of Roc-lon® all-in-one velvet blackout fabrics. The company said the product is dry-cleanable and can be made fire-retardant with a finishing process provided by Rockland.

''For us, it's a breakthrough in product and technology. Nobody has ever offered this combination of velvet and blackout before,'' said Mark Kresel, vice president, sales. Rockland is selling the all-in-one velvet blackout fabrics in nine colors and three embossed patterns. ''The width is 52 to 53 inches, which is adequate for the window sizes in Eastern Europe,'' he said. ''These fabrics will be produced on a made-to-order basis. This strategy eliminates the traditional problem of closeouts in the industry.'' Kresel expects to sell the product in 600-yard minimums per color and pattern.

Rockland said the demand for the all-in-one is strongest in Eastern Europe, but the company expects other markets will show interest eventually. Tanya Shcherbina markets the products for Rockland in Eastern Europe.

''The product is priced for the volume market and is ideal for the hospitality and residential markets where blackout is needed. The products have the same light-blocking capabilities as our regular Roc-lon black out linings with the addition of the decorative velvet feel and look.

''The customer is selling separate black out lining plus velvet which must be sewn together whereas our product is much easier to use and is less expensive than what they are now using,'' said Kresel.F&FI
