New York—P. Kaufmann Contract has named Carol Abercrombie Alston vice president of design and Anne Sirkin has been appointed technical director of contract wovens, both new positions according to Curtis Breedlove, manager of the contract division.

Sirkin joined P. Kaufmann five years ago. Prior to her new assignment, she had worked in the Western division and also for the residential division of P. Kaufmann. She joined P. Kaufmann from Milliken's greige goods division.

Sirkin will assist Alston in handling the wovens needs of P. Kaufmann Contract. She reports to Carol Abercrombie Alston and Curtis Breedlove in this post.

Alston has worked at P. Kaufmann for eight years and for six of those, she has worked with Breedlove. She joined the company through its acquisition of Anju Woodridge in 1996 where she was also director of design.

Prior to that, she was print design director for Kravet for five years and with Robert Allen/Ametex for the nine previous years where she was mentored by the late Georgia Woeber, considered by her peers to be the designer's designer.
