Heimtextil Russia 2020 Postponed Until 2021
Organizers seeking an alternative for this year
June 16, 2020
MOSCOW -- Heimtextil Russia 2020, which was scheduled for September 15-17, has been postponed until next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The venue will remain the same next year at the Expocentre and will be held Sept. 14-16, 2021.
“Due to still-challenging global situation with COVID-19, and a high degree of uncertainty regarding public events in the fall 2020, Messe Frankfurt Rus made the decision to postpone…,” the organizers say in a release. “Messe Frankfurt Rus made this difficult decision after a deep analysis of the current situation, including negotiations with partners, fairground management, Russian and foreign participants.”
Organizers add there’s “a high probability of a second wave of a pandemic in the fall season,” the statement reads. “In addition, the continuing prohibition on the entry of foreign citizens to the territory of the Russian Federation (about 60% of the exhibitors are foreigners), as well as other limitations due to the epidemiological situation in Russia and in the world, effect on quality of event preparation.”
Organizers say they are working on an alternative solution for this year and an announcement will be released in a separate newsletter by the end of June.
Katerina Tydykova, show director of Heimtextil Russia, says in a statement: "We know how much effort and resources exhibitors put into fair preparation. A high degree of uncertainty and the impossibility of planning forced us to take this difficult decision now, so the participants were able to adjust their plans for the fall season in advance.”
Messe Frankfurt is the world’s largest trade fair and event organiser with more than 2,500 employees at 30 locations. The company generates annual sales of about 718 million euros.
