Fabric Buyer Judy Tang Unexpectedly Leaves Shanghai Expo

SHANGHAI—Judy Tang, deputy manager of the curtains and wallpaper department of Shanghai Home Expo, unexpectedly left the company September 20 for “personal reasons,” she told F&FI.

Tang played a major role in the meteoric rise of the sale of fabrics at Shanghai Home Expo, which now reportedly approaches one million yards annually of high-end global imports. Nothing stocked at Shanghai Home Expo is made in China.

Tang, armed with a degree in international economics and trading, logged ten years with the 20-year-old company owned by Charles Tsai, president and founder. He was unavailable for comment, and is notoriously discrete.

Tang handled all purchasing from worldwide vendors of drapery fabrics for the retailer, perhaps the largest buyer of home fabrics in China today.
The Shanghai Home Expo list reads like a “who’s who” of the fabric world, and Tang was instrumental in bringing them into the business. She was a regular attendee at Heimtextil, Proposte, and Evteks almost every year.

We wish Judy all the best, and F&FI will report on her new activities once they are known.
