Domotex Dubai to Debut May 2006

October 4, 2005

HANOVER, Germany — The management of Domotex Hanover has decided to organize a new fair in the Middle East, Domotex Dubai. The first edition of Domotex Dubai will take place from May 28-30, 2006 in the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in the Dubai World Trade Centre. The show will focus on the international carpet and flooring market, similar to its predecessors Domotex Hanover and Domotex Asia/Chinafloor in Shanghai.

"For the first edition, we expect to cover around 12,000 square meters. Next to machine and handmade carpets, visitors will see textile and flexible floor coverings, parquets and laminates, stone floors and ceramic tiles, applications technology, laying equipment, cleaning and maintenance," said Stephan Ph. Kühne, of the Deutsche Messe AG in Hanover.

And like it's sister shows, Domotex Dubai will cater to-the-trade. "Our visitors will be architects and interior architects, buyers for both the residential as well as the contract market, contractors," said Kühne.

"Until now, there was no such show in this very promising region. This show aims at several states in the regions, such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi-Arabia, Iran, India, Pakistan, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt. The opportunities in this region are enormous. Experts believe that in the United Arab Emirates alone there would be investments of around $50 million by 2010," according to Kühne.

He continued: "Dubai is without any doubt the economic trade centre of the Gulf region. Domotex Dubai would offer exhibitors an ideal platform to showcase their products and establish new business contacts. We are certain Dubai can repeat the success we have with Domotex Shanghai. This fair only started in 2002 and since that year the total surface covered grew from 15,000 to 46,000 square meters last year (expectations for 2006 are 57,500 square meters)."
