Brussels — The company Dheedne from Deerlijk, Belgium won the contract award for design with a grey fabric of rich boucle wool mixed with Lurex. It was created by Flemish designer Joel Dely. "I deliberately went for an original combination of fibers." The fabric, is part of Dheednes' Thor range.

Wearbest Sil-Tex Mills won the contract award for Best Product Development. The winning fabric was a three-dimensional relief pattern. "We achieved the relief effect by combining a heavy yarn with a lightweight yarn in the weaving process." Gasner said that the technique gives the fabric both more body and special luster.

Trevira honored Interface Fabrics for its product Ozone. The fabric, designed, by Penny Lovatt, was inspired by bubble-plastic packing materials. The pattern is available from Interface in 12 different color schemes.

The Trend Award went to the Italian manufacturer Gaetano Rossini for what he called a "techno/fashion" fabric, which was actually a spin-off of Rossini's product development for the automobile industry.
