Crypton Names Gillespie VP of Marketing

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — The Crypton Companies, a provider of performance fabric technologies in the contract, home furnishings, and apparel markets, has named Julia Gillespie vice president of marketing for Crypton. Gillespie will report to CEO Lance Keziah.

She was previously marketing manager, overseeing Crypton’s commercial performance fabric brands. She is based here in the company’s office. Gillespie replaces Matt Targett in her new post, who left the company last August.

“As our portfolio of offerings increases, along with our market share in the performance sector, it is critical that we provide a brand experience that’s second to none," Keziah says. "Pull-through marketing strategies are a key part of what we offer our brand partners, such as furniture manufacturers, fabric showrooms, and retailers. Julia’s depth of experience at Crypton, her passion for our brands, and her knowledge of both the contract and residential design markets, as well as consumer-facing channels, makes her a great fit for this key role.”

Gillespie previously served as director of communications for Crypton from 2003 to 2007 before founding her own agency, Mo Marketing + PR, where she created integrated marketing programs for a range of b-to-b and b-to-c clients. Julia rejoined Crypton a year ago, after the company sought her out to lead the marketing programs for their commercial textile division, as well as for their Nanotex brand.

Her agency experience prior to her first stint at Crypton included two New York-based agencies, where she managed programs for diverse brands including The Mitchell Gold Company, Nike, and J. Robert Scott.

“Seeing where the company was headed and given the timing in the marketplace, this key moment for performance textiles, I couldn’t resist the call from this brand that I’m so enthusiastic about,” Gillespie says.
