Coulisse, the Dutch window treatment manufacturer, and Kvadrat, the Danish designer-wholesaler of contract and residential textiles, have partnered to create a new business called Kvadrat Shades.

The new venture will begin on February 7. The first Kvadrat Shade collection will be shown in Copenhagen during 3 Days of Design (May 23 – 25).

"I think companies in the contract/hospitality segment should definitely take notice [because] with Coulisse, Kvadrat is able to cover the price aggressive part of the market and not just the high-end," a veteran industry source says, who did not want to be identified.

Kvadrat Shade will be led by Managing Director Christian Baum Blaakær and Sales Director Jan-Henk Dekker.

“With Kvadrat Shade we are adding a new dimension to the Kvadrat offering for architects and designers all over the world,” Blaakær says in a statement. “The design roller blinds we bring with Kvadrat Shade are suitable for creating the ideal solution for even the largest and most challenging projects.”

The first Kvadrat Shade collection is in collaboration with designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. The collection offers both manually operated and motorized roller blinds. It will include sustainable performance textiles, which are PVC free.

The collection will be available exclusively through the 35 Kvadrat sales offices worldwide.

“We are extremely proud to be working together with an iconic name like Kvadrat in bringing an exceptional range of window covering solutions to the architects’ community,” Dekker says in a statement.
